The Black Women Whom No One Protects

every time you say "no one cares about Black women" you erase the grace and fortitude of Black women who have been fighting for each other since the dawn of patriarchy. it works though. Black women are the "no one" in that sentence, you see, so when you keep saying that you betray your views of Black women's agency. i do not have the luxury of waiting for anyone to protect me or the Black women in my tribe. not even the men, Black or non Black, who we are partnered with us have the range to defend us and rage at the world on our behalf. if Black women are the "no ones" of this world then the statement is correct: Black women care about Black women. and that is a statement of power.
